What is BPC-157?
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound 157) is a synthetic peptide of 15 amino acids. Its sequence is derived from a section of a protective protein first described in human gastric juice.
Unlike many peptides, BPC-157 is considered comparatively stable in aqueous solution and in gastric acid. For laboratory work it is supplied as a white lyophilised powder with a defined content of 5 mg per vial.
BPC-157 in research
Most published work comes from rodent models, where BPC-157 has been studied in tendon, ligament, muscle and gastrointestinal injury models. Several papers describe effects on angiogenesis and on the expression of VEGF receptors.
Other studies look at its interaction with the nitric oxide system and with dopaminergic signalling. Robust data from controlled clinical trials in humans are not available, which is why BPC-157 is sold for research use only.

In the laboratory it is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water: let the water run slowly down the inside of the vial and swirl gently until the powder has dissolved – do not shake.
