What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu (copper tripeptide-1) consists of the three amino acids glycine, histidine and lysine bound to a copper(II) ion. The peptide occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva and urine, and its level has been reported to decline with age.
Its high affinity for copper makes GHK-Cu a model compound for copper transport in tissue. Pepspan supplies it as a blue lyophilised powder with 50 mg per vial.
GHK-Cu in research
Laboratory and animal studies associate GHK-Cu with collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis, wound contraction and the remodelling of connective tissue. It is also one of the most researched peptides in cosmetic science, where it appears as copper tripeptide-1.
Gene-expression analyses suggest that GHK can influence the activity of a large number of human genes in cell models. Controlled clinical data for systemic use are lacking; the GHK-Cu sold here is for in vitro research only.

Reconstitution and storage
GHK-Cu is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial. In the laboratory it is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water: let the water run slowly down the inside of the vial and swirl gently until the powder has dissolved – do not shake. Our step-by-step guide how to reconstitute peptides explains the method in detail.
Store unopened vials at −20 °C, dry and protected from light. After reconstitution, keep the solution at 2–8 °C and use it within about 30 days; avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

Frequently asked questions
Why is GHK-Cu blue?
The colour comes from the copper(II) ion in the complex. A blue to blue-violet powder or solution is normal for GHK-Cu; a colourless product would indicate that the copper is missing.
